TiO (Turn it On) provides a complete ecosystem for home control and automation. TiO is manufactured by Anuva Automation, part of the Anuva family of design to distribution businesses founded in 2008. TiO is an affordable, friendly system for complete automation via Wi-Fi.
Why settle for the “Internet of Things” when you can have the “Internet of HomeTM”? To us, that means one app for everything, not a different app for everything.
TiO’s place in the market is a little broader than most automation companies. We provide complete hardware and software for automation, but we are not targeted to the top 5% of consumers. Our goal is to provide these capabilities to the next 50% of the market. This is accomplished through lower acquisition cost, lower installation cost, and lower cost of ownership.
Every TiO product is a Swiss army knife of capabilities – for example, the TL4 lighting dimmer is not only a dimmer that is load agnostic (meaning it will control anything connected to it) it is also a multi-button touch pad controller for any aspect of the system – including music, window treatments, security, etc. Every TiO product is designed to be retro-fit friendly – every device is a direct replacement for an existing old-school device, using the same mounting methods, hardware and wiring.
Which technologies do your products use to communicate with each other and how does it work?
All TiO products communicate via Wi-Fi. The only overhead piece in a system is the Master Coordinator – a wireless router that creates a hidden network that only allows the connection of TiO devices (we call them “Elements”). That way, there is no networking knowledge required. The system literally configures itself.
When installed, the only work to do is give each Element a friendly name and identify the space in which it is located – and this is done from an Android tablet. No computers, no programming.
Do your products communicate with products from other manufacturers using a standard protocol?
We communicate through multiple protocols – IP, Serial, Contact Closure, and IR. Our TiO app has a wizard that creates the communication driver for outside devices in under 5 minutes.
What types of devices do you manufacture or provide?
- Network Devices
- Software / Apps
- Lighting and Automation Devices
- HVAC / Energy Management Devices
- Entertainment System Control Devices
Can your products be installed by the homeowner or are special skills and tools required?
TiO is purchased from, and installed by, a systems integration professional.
In a short paragraph or 2 please describe how your products fit into a Smart Home scenario and how they are set up to work together to perform automated tasks.
The real magic of TiO comes when the user wants to create scenes. We call them “Moods” and “Experiences”. The user enters a room, sets the desired lighting level using the dimmers on the wall, sets the temperature on the thermostat, turns on the desired music, sets the volume… that is, gets the Mood of the room just right. Then he simply presses the “Capture Mood” button on the app and all the settings are saved. This Mood can be recalled anytime with the press of a button, or scheduled to activate at a preset time on desired days, or every day, or scheduled up to an hour before or after sunrise or sunset. The user can edit this scene whenever they want. No programming, no service calls, no costs to the user – just the user and TiO adapting the system to their lifestyle.
