2005 Ugly Home Theater Contest
Presented by WireTracks

WireTracks LLC is pleased to announce the winners of the 2005 Ugly Home Theater Contest.

“There were a lot of entries and it was hard to choose,” said Bruce Gutman, president of WireTracks. “A lot of people need help with their home wiring.”

“I have seen a lot of bad home theaters,” adds Bruce “but I want to see the worst and I want to help.”

Here is the Criteria used for judging:

  • Poor integration
  • Visible wiring
  • High component visibility
  • Unattractive surface mount raceways
  • Color choices
  • Compromises (home theater in a garage, unfinished barn, etc.)
  • Plain ugliness

The first place winner will win $500 worth of WireTracks products, the second place winner will win $300 worth of WireTracks products, and the third place winner will win $200 worth of WireTracks products.

Ultimately three home theaters were chosen. The first home theater was selected based on poor integration and visible wiring, the second on compromises and components, and the third on plain ugliness.

And here they are:

First Place Winner: Steve Hintz of Milwaukee, WI.
Wire Mismanagement

Second Place Winner: Reid Gustafson.
Living in the 80's

Third Place Winner: Murray Kunis of Los Angeles, CA.
